You cannot tell today (It is 52 degrees today), but we are almost through spring. I am sitting at my computer watching a pair of Robins feed their babies out my window. They are big and strong and will abandon their nest soon.
We just went past the Kolache Festival, and of course, we sold every last one. Thank you to everyone who helped with the bakes and going to the festival to help in the booth. Doing this kind of work is very important if we want to continue being a part of the Kolache Celebration, not only for the church, but also for the local tradition and heritage.
Father had made and installed at the back of the church this past week new 10 Commandments. When you come to the church take a look at them. They are very nice.
This is the beginning of a new year. We had a blessed Christmas here at the Shrine and hope that you all did also. Our church is decorated to beautifully. We had over 700 names for our Christmas Bell Tree. Now we are looking forward to what l 2019 will bring us and hope we will see you if you are able to visit us.
We have had beautiful Fall here. The trees were starting to turn reds and yellow when we had a hard freeze. We received around an inch of snow this morning and the temperature is under 30.
A few weeks back, Father Long created a water garden at the Shrine. It is very beautiful and calming. Father has worked so hard on the grounds.
All our Christmas items will be on sale for 25% off beginning Sunday, November 18.
November 25 is our last Pilgrimage for this year. We hope you will come to see us.
Next week, we will be sending out our October Newsletter. Thank you for being patient while we went through the process of determing who still wanted to receive it. We hope you enjoy it. Cecilia did all the work putting this together.
Don't forget this Sunday, September 23, is our next Pilgrimage Sunday. We hope to see you there.
The summer vacation time officially comes to an end this next weekend. Children are already in school in Oklahoma. It was the wettest August on record, and it is starting to warm up again with today reaching close to 100 degrees. While we always need the rain, I do want to stop mowing my yard. My dad says that it is the latest date that we have been this green. Our flowers and trees are so beautiful right now. It is very peaceful and relaxing here. Before we know it, we will be in fall and planning Thanksgiving and Christmas events.
The past few days have been cloudy and cooler in the mid-80s compared to the week prior in the low to mid-100s. It is a wonderful break from the blast of heat. Hopefully, we will receive some rain out of this pattern.
We had a great pilgrimage Sunday on the 22nd. There was quite a turn out. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it successful, including the large group that came from St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Tulsa. It was one of the biggest pilgrimages this year. It was very enjoyable meeting new people.
Again, thank you for coming out to see the Shrine.
We want to wish everyone a Happy Independence Birthday. Have a Safe and Fun Day.
The Gift Shop/Office will be closed on July 4, and reopen July 5 at 9:00am.
Our delicious Kolaches are for sale Monday through Friday while the gift shop is open @ $12 per dozen.
We have been busy preparing for Holy Week. Cecilia and I will be changing the Infant several times this week. It is such a blessing to be able to serve him, the Shrine and our Shrine members. Look at our Events Calendar or bulletin to see when our services are that week. We hope you have a Blessed Easter with your family and friends
